As most of you know, I took some time off writing (and everything else) and travelled to Ireland for a few weeks. I’ve been back for a week and I’ve been writing about the experience to the best of my ability, but it has been quite the challenge. There was just so much packed into a few short weeks. Long story short, I got way more from Ireland than I could have ever imagined.
I’m going to spend the next week chipping away at what is sure to be the longest piece I have ever written. There are so many threads and so many different storylines, and there’s just no way to accurately put it all into words. I’m going to relay my experience to the best of my ability, and let it go - that’s about all I can do.
I’m writing this now to simply say I’m back and I have more to say than I ever have. Sometimes it takes a little change to get a fresh perspective on life, and Ireland certainly gave me that. I got on that plane thinking I knew some things about life, and I returned with the realization that I know absolutely nothing. So much of what I thought to be true, so much of what I thought to be important - it all faded away into the Irish countryside. I know less than I ever have, and that comes as a huge relief. All my ideas, all my grand schemes and plans are gone. All that’s left is the present moment, the current day. All I can do is take is slow.
I hope you’ve been well, and I cannot wait to share my greatest adventure with you.
-D
P.S. I’m also back writing more poetry, which you can find here:
