Below are some of the Christian-themed works of Vincent Van Gogh (yes, that Van Gogh). As it turns out, he was another one of those tortured soul with a very complicated history with faith and religion. You can read more about that here.
I’m not going to say anything about these works - I think it’s important to let them speak for themselves and resonate in the ways they were meant to. Like Dickinson, Van Gogh represents another surprising turn in my inquiry. This thing I’ve been battling - yet also been looking for - has been around me my entire life. The only difference is now I’m actually looking for it.
For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. - Matthew 7:8

Van Gogh's Prayer (BY JÁNOS PILINSZKY)
A battle lost in the cornfields
and in the sky a victory.
Birds, the sun and birds again.
By night, what will be left of me?
By night, only a row of lamps,
a wall of yellow clay that shines,
and down the garden, through the trees,
like candles in a row, the panes;
there I dwelt once and dwell no longer—
I can't live where I once lived, though
the roof there used to cover me.
Lord, you covered me long ago.
